Depositing & Shielding

After creating your Sanke Wallet, the next step is bringing assets into your Public Account and moving them into your Private Account. This section explains how deposits work, what “shielding” means, and how Sanke keeps your transfers unlinkable.

Depositing into Sanke

Deposits move funds from your external wallet (MetaMask, Rabby, etc.) into your Public Account inside Sanke. The Public Account behaves like a smart-contract wallet — it’s where assets enter before becoming private.

Steps:

  1. Select a token Choose any supported asset (ETH, USDC, USDT, DAI, or others depending on chain support).

  2. Enter deposit amount Input the amount you want to bring into Sanke.

  3. Confirm the transaction in your external wallet This is a normal onchain transfer from your EOA to your Sanke Public Account.

Once the deposit confirms, your balance appears instantly inside Sanke.

💡 Note: Depositing is public by nature — privacy begins after shielding.

What is Shielding?

Shielding moves assets from your Public Account into your Private Account, where they become unlinkable and no longer tied to your public addresses.

Sanke uses privacy protocols compatible with the Kohaku ecosystem (e.g., Privacy Pools-style constructs) to break the link between deposit → private balance → spend.

Once shielded:

  • Your balance is hidden inside a private pool.

  • No one can see how much you hold.

  • No one can trace which deposit belongs to you.

  • All subsequent transfers from Private Account are private by default.

How to Shield Funds

  1. Click “Deposit to Private” This opens the shielding flow inside the extension.

  2. Choose a token Your available public balances are displayed. Select the token you want to move privately.

  3. Enter an amount Type the amount to shield. You can shield multiple times, but each shielding action is a separate private deposit.

  4. Confirm the transaction Review the details and approve. Sanke handles the proof generation and updates your private balance once the transaction settles.

After shielding, the asset disappears from your public balance and appears inside your Private Account — ready for private transfers, swaps, or future unshielding.
